OSIsoft PI ProcessBook Graphics Design Tool
ProcessBook is a process graphic design tool from OSIsoft.
This tool allows for the creation and display of graphical screens that can show:
- Realtime process data values
- Process Trends with one or more trend lines of process data
- Bar graphs showing the level of a process value
- Process states represented in different colors (ex. kettle level: yellow for low, green for ok, red for overfilled)
- Navigation to upstream and downstream processes
Usage
Process Book can be used for a wide variety of purposes:
- Monitor the current and historical state of processes (facilities, production area, IT, etc)
- Digital Dashboard to summarize the status of critical metrics (ex. Production, Quality, Safety, Environment)
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance tool
- Financial representation of production
- Process training tool
Graphics Presentation
ProcessBook used to be the only tool for the display of graphics within the OSIsoft PI product. Today, OSIsoft offers the RTWebParts product to display an SVG version of the graphic on a Microsoft Sharepoint website. The RTWebParts product is an excellent solution for easy distribution of PI information to the masses, because you load the graphics on the Sharepoint server and everyone can see them.
For small groups or individual display of process graphics, you can share one or more ProcessBook PIW files, which can contain a full set of displays with navigation.
ProcessBook Graphics Design Services
Automated Results has been designing Process Book graphics for 10+ years. We have developed individual graphics up to complete set of process graphics that represents an entire plant site.
We can recreate your site's process control system or HMI graphics (ex. RSView, DeltaV) within ProcessBook displays or we can develop a new set of ProcessBook screens based on a consistent design standard (ex. color, navigation, trend pens, etc). If you use RtWebParts, we can design process graphics that are compatible with RTWebParts and set your site up with a good workflow to handle the release of graphics with version control.
For more complex needs, Automated Results can develop VBA code to accomplish what the basic ProcessBook tools might not be able to (ex. conditional logic, processing of external data, dynamic manipulation of custom graphic symbols).
