Computer/Network Architecture

A computer architecture is the definition and implementation of a specific set of principles that guide the selection concepts and techniques. As with a business model, one must create a prioritized set of principles. Not all principles work hand-in-hand, so you need to decide which ones are higher priority for your business.

One must carefully weigh out which principles will have the greatest influence on your business. For instance, you might place more emphasis on the total lifecycle costs over the initial purchase price; system availability may be a higher priority for a 24x7 manufacturing facility vs. a 9 to 5 business; and ease-of-use may be a higher priority for a diverse workforce.

Defining a computer architecture can provide the groundwork you need to understand how computers should be used within your business. It helps you get a handle on where computers are appropriate and where they are not. Many companies fail to assess where to apply computers and as a consequence are negatively influenced by a computer solution that may not be appropriate for their business.

Through a set of discussions, we learn about your business and raise issues and concerns that allow you to decide how you want to leverage computers in your business. As a result of this interaction, you'll have a better understanding of where computers will benefit your business and have a set of principles in-hand that will help guide you and your staff in making decisions for the short-term and on into the future.   With technology and business changing at an ever quicker pace it is important to have a roadmap to get you to your long term goals.
