The Red Antivirus Software Alerts
These Antivirus Alerts that flash up on your screen are not part of any antivirus program that is out on the market. In fact, these alerts are an infection themselves. This infection can cause various problems including disabling your current antivirus, causing your internet browser to redirect to other pages, stopping all internet traffic, and in extreme cases damaging your operating system. This infection normally first comes to your computer as a pop-up warning that your computer is infected with multiple virus and Click here to fix. If you are fortunate enough to read this before you get the first pop-up then you can press ALT+F4 and prevent any other problems. However, if you press click here in the pop-up window, then you are past that point and will need to follow these instructions.
- When the Antivirus Security Screen is up Press ALT+F4 to stop the process
- If you have internet access go to http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/rkill.com and download the file to your desktop (if you are unable to access the internet go to a computer that can and download file to a flash drive)
- Go to Start>All Programs and then Right Click on Startup and select Open
- Copy and Paste the rkill.com into the startup folder. (this will allow you to stop the process at startup)
- Reboot your computer
- Once computer is back up a black command screen will appear briefly (this is the rkill.com file stopping the process)
- Download and run the free version of Malwarebytes from http://www.malwarebytes.org/
- After running Malwarebytes let the program fix all the problems.
- Go to http://download.cnet.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html and download hijackthis
- Run install and run Hijackthis and "Do a system scan and save log file". Once the scan is complete the log file will open. Copy and paste the results into the text box at http://www.hijackthis.de/
- Click Analyze
- When the results come up scroll through the list and look for the Red “X’s”
- Once you have located the Red X’s go to back to the Hijackthis Program and place a check by each item that had a Red X beside it and click Fix selected at the bottom.
- Go back to step number 3 and delete rkill.com from startup folder
- Reboot your computer
After the Reboot, this should resolve your problem with Antivirus Software Alerts. Don't be fooled by clever viruses! Be aware of your current antivirus software - it's updates, color scheme, and normal activity.
