In a Sitefinity v3.7 website, editing of a Generic Content block failed to render the editor correctly. Instead only colored letters appeared:
The error ended up being the default ASP.Net website theme that was set in the web.config file.

The problem was fixed by deleting the theme attribute in the page section of the web.config file:
